It is reported that a new anti-slip coating for the warship's flight deck will be tested on the "St. George's horn" of the "Ticonderoga" class cruiser. The new silicone chemical anti-slip coating, developed by the U.S. Naval Research Laboratory, is more durable and less costly than the widely used epoxy coating.
The U.S. Naval Research Laboratory says the traditional coating is only available for 18 months, but the new coating lasts for 60 months. The coating is expected to ship in the 2015 fiscal year, according to the lead researcher at the U.S. Naval Research Laboratory.
